What would happen if the ASD Community had a "crash mindset"?

“CRASH – A rhinoceros; characterized by it’s tough skin, physical design, and pure power. A large group or herd of rhinoceros is also known as a “Crash”. A Crash is especially dangerous because of the high amount of force and speed that is combined from the individuals coming together.”

This month, our Pastor (Check him out at his blog – he is Micah-approved and we love him!) is focusing on unity in the church. He said something one Sunday that really sat with me and made me think about our ASD Community and how divided we can be sometimes and how frustrating it can be when others aren’t as passionate about certain aspects of living with autism.
He said (and I was too busy Jesus-tweeting to catch his exact quote, so you’ll have to listen to the podcast if you want to hear his exact words):

DON’T WORRY WHEN OTHERS AREN’T AS PASSIONATE ABOUT CERTAIN THINGS AS YOU ARE. YOU ARE VALUABLE. YOUR PART/ROLE HAS PURPOSE IN THE KINGDOM.

Think about that for a minute. Do you know YOUR purpose? Do you truly understand your role adds significant value to the ASD Community? Hmmm? Do you?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not comparing autism to religion or the church here… but what would happen if the ASD Community had a “crash mindset”? What would happen if we could put aside our differences and stop with the distractions and come together in unity for autism this April?
Blue lights or no blue lights, ABA or no ABA, public schools or unschools, biomed or non-biomed, “functioning” labels or just pure genius labels…
I see change. I see hope. I see acceptance for ALL. I see recovery for MANY. I see less arguing. I see more encouraging. I see freedom. I see independence. I see what we could be and what our children WILL be.

Just wanted to share – I hope that inspired you, geniuses! Have a great week. #CRASHON
